There is a corner of Patagonia that was chosen by There is a corner of Patagonia that was chosen by North American cowboys to pursue a new life and so thousands of them migrated here, right next to the Andes where the weather was hard, there were valleys for pasture and labor for their skills.

Still today while you road trip across country-side Patagonia, you can see #Gauchos handling their cattle, moving them from spot to spot.

Museums give us a great opportunity to better unde Museums give us a great opportunity to better understand what we visit. Since its foundation in 1990, the Museo Paleontológico “Egidio Feruglio” (MEF) has been committed to the protection, research, and dissemination of the paleontological heritage of Patagonia and its a great place for everyone to visit, from the young ones (there are actually great activities oriented for children) to the more mature visitors.

Did you know the Patagotitan Mayorum may have been the world’s largest terrestrial animal of all time? It was found by MEF's team and although nowadays you can see replicas of it's bones in few museums around the globe, here it was discovered, analyzed, categorized and assembled here! We have several programs that begin or end at Trelew, check out our site for more info. Link in Bio.

"Life is an Adventure, dare it." Mother Teresa (An "Life is an Adventure, dare it." Mother Teresa (Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu 1910-1997.

Mother Teresa was born in Macedonia in 1910. In 1928 at age 18 she joined the Sisters of Loreto in Ireland and later moved to India, to the lower Himalayas before getting to Calcutta. In 1950 she established The famous Missionaries of Charity congregation. Fluent in 5 languages and by the end of her life, Teresa operated 517 missions in over 100 countries, yet she still found time to write a beautiful poem about life, where she reminds us that life is an adventure on its own, and we shall dare it, which pretty much means: Live! Don't let it just go by.

At Argentina Self Drive we are true believers that we should seize the moment and take that trip we have dreamed off. We treat every trip, every client with this attitude, and make a big effort to create an adventure which is unique and unforgettable.

#Carnaval has been part of Argentina's history sin #Carnaval has been part of Argentina's history since colonial times. The Spanish (although a pagan celebration) brought it over and as many other cultural aspects of Argentina, it began as a lower class celebration performed on the streets and the suburbs.
More immigration made #Carnival a stronger celebration and it adapted to the local wardrobe, music, weather and cultural aspects of each region of Argentina. Since 2010 Monday and Tuesday of Carnival are national holidays and most cities hold events where the dancers and musicians can have a go to show off their quality.

The highest Carnival in the World is celebrated in Argentina's Puna, at San Antonio de los Cobres, 4220 meters above sea level (13845 feet).
